conference weekend

Hyrum took the girls to the Annie Broadway production that was in town on Friday. They loved it and have had their sparkle shoes on all weekend trying to tap dance like Annie. The boys and I stayed home and watched "Where the Garbage Goes"~a dvd about big garbage trucks and landfills where garbage gets smashed. Good times! :)
Hyrum was up on campus all day Saturday preparing for comps~he has his written exams Mon-Thurs this week from 1-5 p.m. and then will defend what he has written orally in about 2 weeks. If (sorry, when!) he passes these, he'll have the green light to begin his dissertation. Yikes! Things are happening very quickly. I did get a to hit some great yard sales in the morning before he left.

It was so nice to have him home all day on Sunday and just relax and listen to conference. We made cinnamon rolls, the kids had fun playing and working on their little conference packets. When Logan heard he didn't have to put on his shirt and tie, he said, "I love this church!"
When they were coloring the ties for the different speakers, Lauren said, "How am I supposed to color her tie?" when Sis Thompson spoke. Hailey also like Sis. Thompson her talk filled up the most bingo squares in the packet.

Spencer was pretty wild (surprise!) He threw a fit when it was time for bed, so on a whim, Hyrum sat him up on the closet shelf in his room. It completely threw him off guard and he just started laughing.
Not a bad trick~you may want to stick it in your "what do I do with this kid?" files. :) Just a little weekly roundup~I'm looking forward to listening to conference some more on my own in peace~it's always such a time of renewal. The theme that really stayed with me was that faith and doubt cannot exist together. It seems that everything around us gives us cause to doubt and worry, (some of mine lately have been: are we going to get through comps, are we going to be able to find a job, sell our house, raise our children in faith, save for the future, etc, etc) but thank goodness we have the gospel of Jesus Christ that we can have faith in.

Sounds like a fun weekend - I loved all the pictures of your kids. I saw your garage sale finds on your other blog and WOW - thats pretty amazing all that you were able to get. Tell Hyrum good luck with his comps - we are thinking of him and keeping him in our prayers - and you. :) Have a great week!

HELLO!!!!!!!!!!! I miss you and have been thinking about you lately! I am sooooo bad at the whole blogging thing and finally caught mine up for the last 6 months a few days ago! I can't wait to spend a moment and catch up on your sweet family! Your kids are soooo stickin cute! I've had a BSU t shirt to send to the new little rascal and I have not made it to our post office since he was born. . .isn't that terrible. Now it probably won't even fit him! I don't get around town much! Oh well! I hope you are good and happy. I wish I could see you more often and those cute kids, too! I love your guts and think you are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
