Big Day

Wow. What a day! It feels so good to sit down! Here are some highlights of the day:

First day of school!
Hailey and Lauren were *so* excited and wild this morning. Our "morning" started at 2 a.m. Lauren came and got me and told me that Hailey was up getting ready for school. We got them back into bed, then Hailey came into our bed at 4 a.m. saying she still couldn't go back to sleep from being up at 2. Finally she fell asleep for a couple of hours. Hyrum and I got up early~I decorated for Logan's 4th birthday and Hyrum made mickey mouse pancakes with chocolate chips. The girls were wild, excited, and giggling all morning. Everything was funny to them and delighted in making each other laugh, which made things like putting on shoes take an eternity~it took forever to get out of the door.

First day of school for Hyrum, Lauren, and Hailey

I took them to the school while Hyrum stayed with the sleeping boys, and could feel the girls' nervousness set in as we got closer. Everything wasn't as funny anymore. I walked them into their classrooms and left with that lump in my throat that I get at the beginning of every school year. They're one year older and growing up so fast and I want to freeze time, even when they're being so crazy and wild. They have awesome teachers this year, and were both so cute when I left:

I came back home to my birthday boy! Happy 4th birthday, Logan! He opened a few presents and then wanted to play with them right away.
The plumbing guys came and Hyrum got them all set up~we are getting our whole house re-piped(!)today and tomorrow. It's a long story, but something we need to do, and we wanted hot water again ASAP, so we chose to have it done today. Here is what my lovely entryway looks like right now. Do you see the holes in the walls and pipes hanging out? *sniff* They are promising that drywall repair guy will do a great job. The rest of the rooms are in shambles too as they are routing the pipes through the attic and down.

I got ready and ran to my ultrasound, thank goodness Hyrum didn't have to be up on campus until noon today. Everything looked great, he's still a boy, and they moved my due date back to the original of January 8. Looks like we may not get that child tax credit this year if this baby isn't early.

Ran back, picked up the boys, went and picked up Max and Ben, two of Logan's best friends to go to McDonalds for lunch and the playland. Our house was too crazy with all the pipework going on. They had a blast. Of all happy meal promotions to be going on, we hit the jackpot: Star Wars! They were thrilled with their treasures:

They played and played and didn't want to go, but we had to drop them off and go pick up the girls from school. They had a great first day, we came back, got some fun mail: thanks Grandmas and Grandpas!

got snacks, signed papers and went through classroom news, rules, etc., and made cupcakes for Logan. Hyrum's class let out early tonight, so he picked up Little Caesars, we had dinner, cupcakes & ice cream, did "birthday interview," opened a few more presents, then we were all exhausted.

Bedtime! I'm still taking my online drivers course at night to get my ticket off my record. Fun times. Pipes should be finished late tomorrow~hallelujah!

Hello,
My name is Nicole and I found your blog at The Nester. We are members of the church and we attend the Bastrop ward in Texas. I have two kids Helena who is 5, she just started school. And there is Fredrick who is 15 months. It is so nice to find your blog. I read your recipe post and we are having the elders over for dinner tomorrow night, so I may make that dish! Have a great day! Nicole

Yikes! A 2 AM wake-up call sounds like no fun...even for a first day of school! Poor you, and pregnant to boot! Sleep is at a premium at your house, I am sure. Congrats on another boy! :) Thanks for featuring my little mistreated pillows on your blog, too!

Hailey is a crack up - poor thing. Sounds like everything went well, though and I'm glad Logan had a good birthday. Give them all hugs and kisses for me!
