On Monday, we were driving home from swimming lessons. There wasn't any crazy music playing~we were actually listening to Primary songs. I wasn't on my way to some crazy sale, none of the kids were screaming or bleeding, there were no emergencies. I wasn't having an amazingly exciting conversation on my cell~I wasn't even talking! And I was going 54 mph in a 40 mph zone. Yea, I got pulled over and got my first speeding ticket in my LIFE! I've been pulled over before, but have always been able to talk my way out of them and get a warning. Not this time. And guess how much the dear state of Texas charges for a speeding ticket that size? $201.00 Not 200, but $201. Hyrum got one when we first moved here for going 8 mph over and it was $150. You think I would've learned from his. They make you pay dearly for speeding here. So, I go down to traffic court, and if I take a defensive driving course online, it will take it off my record and I will *only* have to pay $130. How nice of them. Yea, I'm bitter. But have I been watching my speed? Heck, yea.
Then we also got our power bill for June when we had mostly high 90's and 100 degree days. $200 just for our electricity! I about died! So, I've been extra vigilant about turning off the power strips to our TV and computer at night, turning off lights, and I've only used the clothes dryer once this week. We invested in a long clothesline for our backyard, and I've been hanging out all of my laundry. I have actually loved doing that~how can you beat the smell of sun dried laundry that dries in a half hour flat? We'll see if it makes a dent in the bill. Cooler temperatures should help too. Any other electricity cutting suggestions?

And then, lets top everything off with our air conditioning going out on Friday. Thankfully, we were low 90's yesterday and only mid-80's today, because we're waiting for Monday to come because they charge high weekend rates. The air conditioner is the original, meaning 1979. I'm pretty worried and I'm holding my breath that our home warranty is going to come up with some excuse not to cover it and that we're going to have to replace the ENTIRE blasted thing.

So there are the money woes for the week. It's just that it happened all at once, and it always seem to happen that way. It makes me sick to think of all the fun things those dollars could be going toward instead. Oh well. *sigh* Thanks for listening :) Here's hoping your week was full of checks and rebates in the mail, credits on your electricity bill, finding lots of money in your swimming bag from last year, and no speeding tickets!!

Oh Girl! I hear you! But you have the right attitude. If you don't laugh about it, you will just end up crying. Hang in there. Aren't you glad at the end of the week that you will not have to relive that one agian?
Oh...Melissa I feel your pain! Our a/c went out over the fourth of july weekend and of course it was the hottest weekend of the year! Hang in there...things can only get better...right!?!?
WOWSERS!! I am sure you just went to bed hoping your light fixture didn't fall on top of you too! I am so sorry to hear all of that happened, but you will find a way to make Lemonade out of it--you always do! My mom always dried our laundry outside and I never loved the stiffness or the smell--maybe it was the farm fresh air! Glad you like it!
I'm sorry, Melissa! Especially the speeding ticket. I hate those because you know you could have prevented them, it's just more money down the drain that, like you said, could have been spent on something much more fun. I love the smell of hung laundry, though. It looks fun, too! :) Hang in there!
I love ya! We've had those runs of bad luck too...hang in there!
Sorry you had such a crappy week! Here's to hoping next week is a better one :)
